Established in 2014, Bidgee Kids Occupational Therapy is private practice based in Wagga Wagga NSW with outreach services in the Henty/Lockhart areas.

Our service is dedicated to helping children and teens thrive in meaningful everyday activities such as play, social interactions, self care and learning.

We believe in developing therapy plans which are family-centred, follow child interests, harness strengths and respect differences so that true participation is a reality.

Our Clients:

  • Private paying and NDIS plan/self-managed clients are welcome. We accept relevant Medicare plans although we do not bulk bill.

  • We serve children and teens from 2-16 years of age who have difficulties in everyday activities and tasks (occupations). These tasks include social interactions, participating in school, emotional regulation, fine motor skills, being independent in self care, toileting, play, personal organisation and sleep.

  • A diagnosis is not necessary, although many of our clients live with neurodivergence such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Specific Learning Disorder, Sensory Processing differences, Executive Functioning Disorder, Brain Injury, Intellectual Disability, Developmental Delay and, Developmental Coordination Disorder.

  • We do not accept referrals related to issues surrounding physical access and mobility, complex equipment prescription, environmental modifications and upper limb management.

Service Overview:

  • Occupational therapy for children and teens.

  • Occupational therapy for children via parent coaching programmes.

  • Clinical supervision and mentoring for occupational therapists.

Our Team:

  • Joanna Caton (director and clinical supervisor)

Individual Occupational Therapy- This is a bespoke therapy programme for your child or teen which addresses a range of goals. Participation in therapy may be medium to long term.

Assessment and Strategy Consultations- This is a short-term occupational therapy service which addresses targeted priorities through assessment and development of support strategies and home programmes.

Parent Empowered Occupational Therapy- This is an 8-10 week programme which aims to support young children in every-day activities through empowering parents. Parents are coached to implement occupational therapy strategies, develop helpful routines and advocate for their child's needs in educational and care settings. Appointments are a combination of parent/therapist and parent/child/therapist. This is a powerful "stand alone" therapy option or can be helpful whilst children are on occupational therapy waiting lists.
